Dr. R. Tyson Medlock

Dr. Medlock received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 2006. After graduation he began work as an emergency doctor at a clinic in Lafayette, IN. After 2 years in Lafayette he earned a position at a specialty and emergency hospital in Indianapolis, IN working in the ICU practicing emergency and critical care medicine for another 4 years. Being from the Bloomington area it was always a goal to return home and when the opportunity presented itself he chose to become Owner/Medical director of Bloomington Veterinary hospital. He absolutely enjoys spending time with his wife Tia and daughter Aiyanna, as well as his dog Rocco and cats Steve, Rogue and Soffice. Dr. Medlock is an avid outdoorsman; and enjoys hunting, fishing and various other outdoor sports.

Dr. Jhondra Funk

Veterinarian

Dr. Jhondra Funk received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2010. Following graduation, she completed a one-year small animal internship at a large specialty and emergency practice in New Jersey. Dr Funk then relocated to South Carolina to complete a one-year small animal internal medicine internship where she also received additional training in small animal abdominal ultrasound. Her interests are internal medicine, feline-specific medicine and companion exotic animal medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, reading and spending time with her children (JP, Sam and Addy) and her dogs (Thor and Kita).

Dr. Patricia Orth

Veterinarian

Dr. Orth's dad asked her, 'What are you going to do when you grow up?' when she was 15. Despite feeling it was too soon for such decisions, she decided to take her strengths in sciences and love of animals, and pursue veterinary medicine. After 2 years working (volunteer, then employed) at a nearby animal hospital, she decided this career choice was a good fit. She graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She enjoys all aspects of medicine, but has special interest in feline and behavioral medicine - and completed two preceptorships in feline medicine her senior year of veterinary school. She worked in clinics in Tulsa, OK, Peoria, IL and Ashland, MO, while her husband Eric completed his training in human medicine. He took a position with IMA and the family moved to Bloomington in July 2006. Dr. Orth started working at Bloomington Veterinary Hospital in Jan 2007, after meeting the previous owners, Drs. Jim Koch and Mary Alice Cox, due to her own cat's illness. She is very grateful for the opportunity to continue to practice medicine 1-2 days a week at BVH, while being available to also be a full time mother for her three sons, all avid soccer players and musicians, aged 16, 14 and 10. The household also includes 2 four legged family members - a hound mix adopted from the Brown County shelter, named Remy, (after the Marvel X-man character 'Gambit') and a long haired dilute tortie named Caprice (after the musical form, NOT the car, Dad!). The cat is absolutely in charge of everything - just ask her. In any spare time she might find, Dr. Orth will occasionally join the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra for a concert, on violin, and also enjoys reading and watching a LOT of youth travel soccer.
